Just in case no one noticed I thought I'd declare my love of pyrography to the world!
I got a wood burning iron from my parents for Christmas, totally unexpected, never tried it, never thought about it. It is however the best thing to happen to my artwork in ages!!
It's so relaxing and peaceful.
See when I'm painting (not stopping that by the way
) I get aprox. halfway through what I'm working on and have an attack of the, "oh god, what was I thinking" "why am I doing this?" "I'm never going to finish this!" "I've totally screwed this up,"
and then I drink my paintbrush water instead of my 6th cup of coffee. Don't laugh, I know you've done it too. Actually do laugh because I usually do while spitting out my daler-rowney flavoured water.
My point is that because of changing nibs for different effects and having to wait for the iron to cool I never get to the meltdown stage. It's much slower than I paint too so less chance of a mistake.
All in all I'd highly recommend it.
