Rejection

1 min read
It stings. Sometimes it helps and I fight harder to be a better artist but I'm tired of fighting and failure.

Someone just told me it's because I'm not as good as I think I am but here's the thing, I don't think it's any good either! Do many artists? I know exactly how mediocre my artwork is but it's so hard to give the dream up. If I don't have art in my life I don't know who I am but right now I feel like throwing every piece out of the nearest window and never creating more. Maybe I will and a blank slate will make me feel better, the installation of a lifetime of art strewn across the lawn could look quite effective......

Please people, I'm begging you. Stop writing spoilers about the new TMNT film! Or if you really must rant/enthuse please leave space before you start writing so that if someone is scrolling through they can't accidentally read what happens.

The film isn't out on a synchronised release, the UK has to wait until October for example and I can't avoid DA and TMNT all that time, I'll go mad :D

Thank you for your consideration and those of you getting to see the film already, enjoy! (Or not ;)

Future vs. Past

1 min read
(I'm feeling philosophical, bear with me folks ;)

Living in either is a tangled path, worrying about what could be or dwelling on what was seems like a sure way to be consumed by it.

I know it's easy to say leave the past behind you and if life has dealt you a rough hand no matter what there will be days where those events will rise up again to challenge you. These are the days that shape you. Carry them with you and accept that you cannot change what happened but they changed you. You're better than those dark days, stronger and braver because of them, at least that's how I see it.

As for the future, eh, I like to think we have a certain amount of influence on that but only if we move forward with it. So embrace it all my lovelies, what was, what is to come and if today is one of those days don't let it beat you.

Dear anonymous deviant,
Thank you for my one month premium membership! :D

Very, very cool and I'm looking forward to finding my way around the extra features.

It made what was turning out to be an awful Monday that much brighter, so thank you, thank you, thank you!

Just in case no one noticed I thought I'd declare my love of pyrography to the world!

I got a wood burning iron from my parents for Christmas, totally unexpected, never tried it, never thought about it. It is however the best thing to happen to my artwork in ages!!

It's so relaxing and peaceful. :)

See when I'm painting (not stopping that by the way ;) ) I get aprox. halfway through what I'm working on and have an attack of the, "oh god, what was I thinking" "why am I doing this?" "I'm never going to finish this!" "I've totally screwed this up," and then I drink my paintbrush water instead of my 6th cup of coffee. Don't laugh, I know you've done it too. Actually do laugh because I usually do while spitting out my daler-rowney flavoured water.

My point is that because of changing nibs for different effects and having to wait for the iron to cool I never get to the meltdown stage. It's much slower than I paint too so less chance of a mistake.

All in all I'd highly recommend it. :D
